Launch Day


So yeah, that's Bread.io released!

In case you read this before anything else, it's a fun little game about bread sliding around and baking itself whilst trying to slice other breads.

I made the front-end game as well as the back-end management and bots (yes there are some) all within the 3 days of the jam.

To come clean though: The WebSocket, half the back-end system and a connection framework was created by myself weeks before the time frame, but which were not made specifically for this jam.

A bit about bots:

The bots implemented run server-side. They are not very polished, I will tell you that. If you are interested in technical details, the bots search for the nearest ingredient, also accounting how much of that ingredient it already has, calculate its angle towards is and navigate there. When it comes to slicing, it looks at the nearest player or bot and decides if it should try to slice. And in most cases, that's a yes.

Well, what else is there to say? Will there be updates? I don't know, perhaps. Will this run indefinitely? Likely.

Oh, and also, tiimo. I took that special object very seriously. Sorry.
